She’s Got Questions… I’ve Got Answers

Kendra at Catholic All Year hosts what she says just might be “the internet’s favorite virtual cocktail party”. I think this is such a fun idea for a link-up. Every week, I’ve wanted to answer all the questions (I AM chatty like that), but this is the first week that I’m actually doing it. … here we go!

1. How did you get your name?

I’m actually named after my mom!

She didn’t like her middle name, so she didn’t give me one. I always wished she had come up with something!

(If you’re visiting from the link-up, I think I ought to let you know it’s pronounced Tamara like the girl in that 90’s sitcom, Sister Sister. Everybody I meet knows someone whose name is spelled like mine but is pronounced differently. So now you know!)

2. Do you have a set time for prayer in your day?

Yes. The specific schedule has changed through the years, depending on new babies, work schedules, etc. Right now, my husband and I take turns having time for prayer in the morning. I use this time for praying with Scripture. At the end of the day, after bedtime stories and prayers with the kids, I sit in the room  until they’ve fallen asleep… I figure this is a great time for a Rosary. I used to snuggle them to sleep, but then I just fell asleep, too. So now I sit up in bed and take the time for prayer. And, throughout the day, I try to practice the presence of God and tell Him all about my thoughts, feelings, and desires as they come up.

3. Did your mom work or stay at home or both?

My mom stayed home for most of my childhood. She started working outside the home around the time my youngest sister started school at which point I was a junior or senior in high school. Now she’s seriously looking forward to retirement!

4. Do you vote?

I have not done a good job with voting in the last couple of years- since we left CO. With all the craziness, it has really fallen off the radar for me. Before that, I was a permanent mail-in ballot kind of girl. I know I need to get back in the swing of things. I do think its really important. Now that we’re going to be in the same state for a second year in a row, I think I can probably manage to get registered.

5. What’s your favorite drink?

I loved the white peach sangria we served at our wedding. I’ve dreamed about it ever since :) Otherwise, I think it really depends on what suits the occasion. I love a cold beer on a Friday night. I enjoy a glass of wine at dinner with friends and a mimosa at a nice brunch. And sometimes I would like nothing more than an iced tea with lemonade.

Oh yes, and every morning starts with coffee. Asap.

 6. How are your photography skills?

Well… The truth is I don’t have any photography skill. I know that lighting matters. That’s about it. I would love to learn, but at this stage of my life, I am lucky if I know where my phone is and snap a quick picture that way. If I had to keep track of an actual camera, and a cord thing to upload the pictures… It just wouldn’t happen. So I content myself with zillions of camera pics that I can upload in two seconds. My next goal is to get my kids to not make weird faces when they know I’m taking a picture. That will be a serious skill!

It was a really {pretty} day today so we decided to let the kids play in the sprinklers.  Can you guess how the kids felt about that? :)
